CommUnique and AXA Climate School Partner to Address Critical Skills Gap in ESG Training

October 7, 2024

New partnership aims to equip businesses with the skills needed to meet stringent Scope 3 emissions regulations.

CommUnique, the leading provider of ESG leadership training and stakeholder engagement consulting in the UK and the Middle East, is proud to announce a strategic partnership with AXA Climate School, an arm of AXAgroup on business sustainable transition. This collaboration is set to tackle the significant skills gap that organisations face in managing Scope 3 emissions by providing exclusive access to AXA Climate School's renowned climate education courses.

Recent data underscores the urgency of this initiative:

  • 67% of companies report a lack of skilled professionals as a major barrier to effectively managing Scope 3 emissions (World Economic Forum, 2023).
  • Organisations that invest in employee training on Scope 3 management see an average 23% improvement in their ability to track and reduce these emissions (Sustainability Skills Survey, 2024).
  • 85% of sustainability professionals believe upskilling is "critical" or "very important" for tackling Scope 3 challenges (Green Skills Report, 2023).
  • Companies with comprehensive Scope 3 training programmes are 5 times more likely to meet their emissions reduction targets (Carbon Disclosure Project, 2024).

“This partnership with AXA Climate School represents a significant step in our mission to provide top-tier ESG training,” said Gihan Hyde, Founder & CEO at CommUnique. “By equipping our clients with the necessary skills to manage Scope 3 emissions, we are not only helping them comply with the latest regulations but also empowering them to lead in sustainability.”

Rushil Agarwal, Business Head – Asia Pacific at AXA Climate, added, “Our collaboration with CommUnique is perfectly aligned with our goal of expanding climate education to address global challenges. Together, we can amplify our impact, ensuring that businesses are better prepared to meet their ESG goals.”

This partnership comes at a critical time, as several new and upcoming regulations require companies to report on Scope 3 emissions:

  • EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD): Will require over 50,000 companies to report on Scope 3 emissions starting in 2024, impacting 75% of EU corporate turnover.
  • UK's Streamlined Energy and Carbon Reporting (SECR): Mandates Scope 3 reporting for 11,900+ large UK companies and LLPs.

Through this partnership, CommUnique’s clients will have exclusive access to AXA Climate School’s comprehensive library of courses, covering vital topics such as climate risk management, sustainable resource use, and strategies for reducing environmental impact.
